Motivation to Start the New Semester :)

We're too expensive, too needy, too slow, too many. Why hire a lawyer when you can get your legal documents off of a faceless website with a high turnaround? Because we're quality customer service you can rely on, that's why! Uhh... Sure.

Courtesy of Above the Law. Just so you know what you're getting into :)

  1. Do you think the US will move from state-level general bar exams to a national exam in each of these niches of practice (IP, patent, etc...) similar to the way doctors are regulated as a result of these large niche law firms popping up?

  2. That's a really good idea. Right now there is a multi-state bar exam, but many states opt out of it in favor of stricter standards on their own exams. I think that, until we entirely move to the MSBE, it is unlikely that niche exams will pop up. Possibly, the more elite practice areas (IP, patent, etc.) will eventually have a suggested exam, but I think that's pretty far out. Moreover, those areas already have safeguards built in, i.e. restricting applicants to those with higher STEM degrees (M.S., PhD, exceptional work as a B.S.). Unlike Medicine, the skills to operate within the law are pretty much the same. You might need some specialized knowledge, but ultimately, you're using the same tools. Miss you Rich! <3
